Bernetha M. Pritts

Bernetha M. Pritts, a beloved LPN known for her dedication to her family and community, passed away on October 20th, 2023, in Ligoiner, Pennsylvania. She was born on May 22nd, 1929, in Scottdale, Pennsylvania to Mildred Meader Echard and Wilbert M. Ullery who died December 1931. Raised by her mother and loving step-father Hugh Echard. 

Throughout her life, Bernetha exemplified kindness and compassion in all that she did. Her warm smile and nurturing nature made a lasting impact on the lives of those around her. Bernetha's career as an LPN allowed her to provide care and comfort to countless individuals during their times of need.

After graduating from East Huntingdon High School Class of 1947, Bernetha embarked on a path of service, both to her family and her community. She cherished the time that she spent with her loved ones, always cherishing the moments shared together. Being surrounded by family was one of Bernetha's most cherished memories.

Bernetha's proudest accomplishments extended beyond her career and personal life. She was an active member of Heritage Methodist Church and found great joy in worshiping alongside her fellow congregants. As a dedicated choir member, Bernetha's melodious voice uplifted the spirits of those who had the pleasure of hearing it.

In addition to her involvement with the church, Bernetha generously volunteered her time with various organizations. She selflessly contributed to the Waterford Auxiliary Ladies VFD, the Salvation Army, West Overton Museum, Meals on Wheels and Ligonier Valley Railroad Association. Through these volunteer efforts, Bernetha touched the hearts of many in the community and made a positive difference in their lives.

Bernetha is predeceased by her loving husband William "Bill" Pritts and her son Barry Christner. Their memories will forever be treasured by all who knew them.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her surviving family members: daughter Kendra (Brent) Powell, son William (Lindsey) Pritts, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Bernetha is also survived by her sisters Wilma Jean Myers and Maureen Gower, brother Sherwood (Charlene) Echard, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bernetha M. Pritts will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm-hearted nature and unwavering dedication to her family and community will forever be remembered. May she rest in peace knowing the positive impact she made on the lives of others will live on for generations to come.

A Private burial will be held at Menoher Cemetery followed by a Public Memorial Service on Sunday, November 5 at 3 P.M. at the Snyder-Green Funeral Home 402 E. Church St. Ligonier Pa
