Connie (Dauer) Knupp, born August 4, 1944 in Latrobe, a beloved member of her community and a cherished matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 28, 2025, at the age of 81.
She leaves a remarkable legacy woven into the hearts of her family, whose lives she touched with kindness and warmth. Having retired from her role as the food service director for the Ligonier Valley School District, Connie dedicated her life not only to her work but also to nurturing her family.
Beyond her professional life, Connie found her greatest joy in her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent attending their sporting events and milestones. It was in their laughter and achievements that she found immense pride and love. Connie's legacy will live on through her husband, Kenneth D. Knupp, with whom she shared 63 beautiful years of marriage; her son, Kenneth M. Knupp and wife Stacie (Straka); her two daughters, Allison Luke and husband Michael and Melissa McElfish and husband Charles “Bud”. She was a devoted grandmother to Kylie (Luke) Stipanovich and husband Alex, Michael J. Knupp, and Noah K. Knupp, a loving great-grandmother to Kason and Kohen Stipanovich. She also leaves behind a sister, Alice E. (Cutlip) Harr.
Connie is also survived by her extended family, Monica (Steve) Bredehoeft and children Hannah (Jordan) Ashford and Benjamin Bredehoeft, Amy Vasterling (Dan), and children Megan (Scott) Price, Clayton Vasterling and Ty (Haley)Vasterling. Sandy Clark, Cindy (Dave) Palmer and children Jason (Jessica) and Brandon (Ashley), and Barb (Tracy) Monticue and children Monica (Anthony), Bob (Elaine), and Christina (Matt). As well as her brother-in-law Geary D. Knupp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl Fleming and Elizabeth Joann "Betty" (Kirchner) Cutlip; her father and mother- in-law Ralph M. Knupp and Minnie B. Knupp; her twin sister, Bonnie Bornemisza; her sister, Linda S. Cutlip; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Robert) Clark, Donna Knupp and brothers-in-law Peter Bornemisza, Barry E. Harr, and Ralph M. Knupp, Jr.
In addition to the love of family, Connie had a creative spirit that shined brightly through her hobbies. She delighted in cake decorating and tole painting, expressing her artistic talents in ways that brought happiness to others.
As we say farewell to Connie, we are grateful for the experiences we've shared and the memories we've created. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Select Specialty Hospital, Concordia at Bethlen, The Excela Hospice team, and her special friend and caregiver, Sheri Davis, whose care and kindness were invaluable during her years.
A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held in her honor on October 5, 2025, at The Barn at Ligonier Valley in Ligonier, PA, starting at 1:30 PM, all are welcome to attend. Connie Knupp's warmth, generosity, and love for life will forever be remembered and cherished by her family and friends.
