Darwin Henry Campbell, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, left this world on January 12, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on July 10, 1954, in Latrobe, PA, he was a gentle giant with a heart of gold. He showered his loved ones with affection daily and hugs that were known to cure all ailments and turmoil. Darwin’s larger than life personality injected joy, laughter, love and warmth everywhere he went. He would even go out of his way to talk to strangers so that he could find some bond or connection, they could both find joy in.
Darwin dedicated many years of his life as Plant Supervisor/Quality Control at Technimark in Latrobe, where his work ethic and leadership inspired those fortunate enough to work alongside him. Yet, his proudest accomplishments were found not in the workplace, but within the embrace of his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with loved ones, particularly with his grandchildren, Declan and Evelyn Campbell, whose smiles brought light to his days.
At the heart of Darwin’s life was his beloved wife, Renee L. (Walker), with whom he shared countless memories and cherished moments. He leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer (Kristopher) Wilson, and son, Brandon (Chayce) Campbell, who will carry forward the values, warmth and endless love he instilled in them. In addition to his immediate family, Darwin held a special place in his heart for Brett Little and Christopher Hudson, who he adored as if they were his own children. His deep-rooted affection for family extended to his great nephew and niece, Eryk and Frankie, his many cousins, as well as Denise and DJ, who all became a cherished part of his life's fabric.
Darwin had a passion for coaching basketball, where he shared his love for the game and mentored young athletes, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. He was a lover of all sports, the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates but especially his Duke Blue Devils Basketball. Darwin was a man who lived his entire life with the goal of helping others through coaching, community work, his job, organizing meet ups, lending a helping hand to those in need and being the rock for his family. It feels only right that he continues to help others as he departs through the selfless gift of organ donation. It provides his family with some comfort and peace knowing he will still live on through others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Macklin Henry Campbell, and his mother, Elizabeth "Toots" P. (Burns) Campbell, whose love shaped him into the man he became. Their memories now blend into the many stories Darwin leaves behind, a testament to a life well-lived and richly shared.
Darwin’s legacy of love will continue to thrive in the hearts of his family and friends. A viewing will take place on January 16, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Snyder-Green Funeral Home. There will be additional viewing hours on January 17, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The funeral service will commence at 10:00 AM on the same day, offering a moment for all to gather in memory of a remarkable man who touched so many lives. Pastor Christene Doren will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers please feel free to contribute a donation in Darwin’s name to Positive Coaching Alliance or National Deer Association.
