Dean Highberger

Dean E. Highberger, 83, of Leesburg, FL died Monday, January 29th, 2024, at UF Health Leesburg Hospital. He was born July 21st, 1940, in Madison, P.A., a son of the late Albert E. and Louise (Smith) Highberger. He grew up working as a farmer on the Highberger Farm in West Newton with his siblings, Gail, Lisle, and Ray. Dean was owner and General Contractor of a construction company for over 20 years in Pennsylvania and later retired as the owner of Integrity Bulk Mail Service in Florida.

His life will forever be cherished by his wife of 60 years, Betty (Weimer) Highberger; daughter, Denise Rhoads and husband, Steve of Ligonier PA.; daughter, Arlene Hostetler and husband, David of Irwin, PA; and son, Brian Highberger and wife, Jenni of Leesburg, FL.; four granddaughters; Rachel Eileen Rhoads, Lindsey Nicole Miller, Danielle Elise Hostetler, and Niki Deanna Hostetler; three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

Dean will forever be remembered for his love of games with friends and family and his devotion to Jesus Christ. He affectionately referred to the girls in his life as "Sugar Plums" and he was referred to as "G-Pa." In addition to "G-Pa," Dean also earned the nickname "Trickster" from his Grandchildren due to his constant playful teasing with them.

Friends will be received Friday, February 9th, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the SNYDER-GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 402 E. Church St., Ligonier, PA 15658 and again starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 10th, 2024, with the service following at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Bunney officiating. Interment will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.

There will be an additional memorial service at Life Church in Fruitland Park, FL for his friends and family on February 17th, 2024, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Rick Welborne officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorial donations go to missions, which was very close to Dean's heart. Donations can be made to Praise Assembly of God in North Versailles, P.A. or Life Church in Fruitland Park, F.L.
