Duane A. Filson

Duane A. "Duke" Filson, a beloved husband, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and love. Born on June 11, 1938, Duane brought joy to all who knew him through his passion for telling jokes and his kind and welcoming personality. Duane's life was enriched by his hobbies and interests, including being a car enthusiast, enjoying motorcycles and auto racing, as well as listening to oldies music. He found great joy in these activities and shared that joy with those around him. He had a talent for bringing smiles to those around him through his humor and was fondly remembered for his love of sharing jokes with others. A Veteran of the United States Air Force, Duane achieved remarkable milestones in his life that brought him great pride. He served as the Past Master of the Masonic Lodge and was an esteemed member of the Shriners and Tall Cedars. His dedication to these organizations exemplified his commitment to community and philanthropy. In his family circle, Duane was preceded in death by his loving wife Joanne Filson. He is survived by his brother-in-law Tony Massaro (the late Cindy), nephews Denny Filson, Casey Filson, John Filson, Justin Filson, Matthew Massaro, and Anthony "Chip" Massaro. A viewing and funeral service to honor Duane's life will be held at the Snyder-Green Funeral Home located at 402 E Church St., Ligonier, PA 15658. The viewings are scheduled for July 9th, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM respectively. The funeral service will take place on the same day starting at 7:00 PM. Duane A. Filson's presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace as his memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
