Edith Swisher

Edith M. Swisher, 95, of Ligonier, formerly of York Haven, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at the Bethlen Home.

She was born on September 12, 1925, in Gladbeck, Germany.  She moved to America in 1950, and Edith became a United States citizen on December 11, 1962.

Edith and her late husband of 58 years, Donald B. Swisher, relocated from York Haven to Ligonier in November 1999.  She was a member of Alpenrose German Dance Group in York; and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and baking Christmas cookies.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Karl Grant, mother, Maria (Sablotni) Graschk, step-father, Franz Graschk; and an infant granddaughter.

She is survived by her son, Randolph (Patricia) Swisher, of White, PA; two grandsons, N. Allan (Alice Davis) Swisher, of Queens, NY, and Alexander Swisher, of Pittsburgh, PA; two great-grandchildren, Sadie and Owen Swisher; and sister-in-law, Frances Crouse, of Fayetteville.

To honor Edith's wishes, there will be no viewing, and services will be held privately for the family.  Interment will be in Ligonier Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlen Communities, 66 Carey School Road, Ligonier, PA 15658 or the Ligonier Valley Library, 120 W. Main Street, Ligonier, PA 15658.
