He was born on June 6, 1933 in Stahlstown, to the late Norman and Irene (Erwin) Roadman. The youngest of three, Gene graduated from Ligonier High School in 1951. He was a Corporal in the Army during the time of Korean War. While stationed in Germany, he was a star player for the “Huskies” - a military football team.
