Gene Louis Roadman

June 6, 1933 — May 2, 2024

Gene Louis Roadman, 90, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather of Acme, passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord, on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at his son’s home surrounded by his family.  He was born on June 6, 1933 in Stahlstown, to the late Norman and Irene (Erwin) Roadman.  The youngest of three, Gene graduated from Ligonier High School in 1951.  He was a Corporal in the Army during the time of Korean War.  While stationed in Germany, he was a star player for the “Huskies” -  a military football team.  He was known for his dedicated career as a delivery milkman for Westland and United Dairy. His exceptional customer service brought smiles to so many faces. Many people affectionately knew him as “The Milkman”.    On June 16, 1956 he married Vivian Belon.  Gene worked hard and played hard.  He was quite an athlete and enjoyed many competitive sports including baseball, softball, tennis, and volleyball.  His family and his church were the most important things in his life. His faithful church attendance set an example for all.  He served as song leader, teacher, and prayer warrior.   He loved having his entire family at his home every Sunday after church to swim in the pond or snowmobile.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian, his brother, James Roadman and his great grand daughter Tessa Rose Shick.   He is survived by his four children: Keith (Tammy), Randy (Donna), Barry and Lori Wiltrout (Steve), longtime companion, Nancy Walker,  his sister Helen Hamil, sisters-in-law Lillian Roadman, Eleanor Bartlebaugh, Joan Emmert, and Betty Keller.  Pappy Gene will be greatly missed by his grand children: Nathan (Heather), Tiffany Shick (Dan), Ashley Hart, Ryan, Josh (Courtney), Kayla Swink (Cody), Brenna Sheffler  (Ryan) and Micah and great grandchildren: Aiden Roadman, Alexa Shick, Wyatt Hart, Emma Shick, Mason Roadman, Lincoln Wiltrout, Theo Sheffler, Mark Swink and Carson Wiltrout.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 1 until the time of service at 6 P.M. with Pastor Tyrone Smartnick officiating at the Acme Open Bible Church at 725 Bear Rocks Rd. Acme Pa 15610

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Acme Open Bible Church missionary fund or Christian Family and Children’s Center.
