Gladys M. Barkley

Gladys M. Barkley, a cherished soul in our community, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on October 2, 1937, in Stahlstown, PA, she graced this world with an unwavering spirit and a joyous heart.

Gladys was a vibrant presence, known for her ability to light up a room with her kindness and warmth. She had an incredible way of making others feel at ease, always willing to go out of her way to offer comfort and care. Her loved ones fondly remember her precious walks, a simple pleasure that brought her great joy.

Her deep Christian faith defined her life; she found solace and strength in her time spent in church, nurturing her spiritual connection. An avid creator, she delighted in her hobby of crochet, crafting intricate pieces that reflected her creative spirit and love for beauty.

Gladys leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her son, Robert (Gwen Kersten) Barkley; her daughter, Roberta Wearmouth; and her daughter, Robin (James) Lafranchise. As a proud grandmother, she is remembered fondly by April (Allen Swank) McClain, Caleb, Leah, Jacob Wearmouth, Victoria, and Brian Lafranchise. Additionally, she was a beloved great-grandmother to Tabby, Lilly, and Wyatt. Gladys is also survived by her siblings Ronnie, Birdie, Audrey, Janet, and Ella, who held her dear throughout her life.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Sylvia (Neiderhser) Keyseer, as well as her siblings Ken, Joe, Loretta, and Elmer, who now await her in eternal rest.

A viewing to celebrate her life will take place on December 21, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, and again on December 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Snyder-Green Funeral Home located at 402 East Church Street, Ligonier, PA.

As we say goodbye to a remarkable woman whose life was filled with love, warmth, and faith, we carry her spirit with us, cherishing the memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
