Harry Thomas Lenhart, a devoted family man, skilled carpenter, and respected community member, passed away on May 19, 2026. Born on January 27, 1939, in Cook Township, Pennsylvania, Harry’s life was marked by kindness, dedication, and a welcoming spirit that touched all who knew him.
Harry lived a full and enriching life deeply rooted in faith and community service. As a devout Christian and active member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Latrobe, he embodied the principles of generosity and compassion. His commitment to the church went beyond worship; he served as a youth group leader, contributed to Meals on Wheels every Wednesday, and enjoyed competing in church softball leagues. His passion for fellowship extended to his involvement with the Chestnut Ridge Car Club, where his enthusiasm for automobiles and restoration shone brightly.
Harry’s personality was defined by his kindness and warm welcome, making him a cornerstone for both family and friends. Married to Thelma (Campbell) Lenhart for over 65 years, their enduring partnership was a testament to love and mutual respect. Together, they nurtured a loving family that includes their children, Rod (wife Emily) Lenhart, Drew (wife Rhonda) Lenhart, and Jerry (wife Sandy) Lenhart. Harry was a proud grandfather to Colton, Myranda, and Conner. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Isiah and Joshua. Harry’s siblings, Ed and Loretta, remain part of his living family circle, while he was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Alice (Logan) Lenhart; brothers, Harold and Don; sisters, Beverly and Charlotte; and brother Benjamin, who died in infancy.
Harry worked for many years as a carpenter, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and talent for craftsmanship. He especially enjoyed fixing and restoring antiques, taking pride in preserving pieces of the past. During the Christmas season, he lovingly built handmade toys for children, a tradition that brought joy to many families and reflected his generous heart.
A funeral service celebrating his life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 647 Bethel Church Road, Latrobe, PA 15650. Interment and committal service will be private.
Harry’s life was a testament to dedication, faith, and love. His presence in the community and in the hearts of his family and friends will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
