Helen R. Hamil (Roadman)
Helen R. Hamil passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord, on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at her great niece’s home surrounded by her family. Helen was born on September 14, 1931 in Stahlstown, PA to Norman and Irene (Erwin) Roadman. She graduated from Ligonier Valley Senior High School in 1949. Helen then attend the Western Pennsylvania School of Nursing, graduating in 1952. She then joined the Air Force and served from 1962 -1964, achieving the rank of Captain. Helen loved learning and continued to enhance her knowledge by obtaining a teaching certificate. She married Carl Henry Hamil, an Air Force officer in 1965. After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Lawrenceville, GA, where they led an active life. Helen loved to garden, was an avid reader, devoted to her Savior and her church, and cherished her adopted animals especially her faithful dog companion Happy. Helen relocated to Latrobe, PA in 2018 to be closer to family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Carl, her brother James Roadman, and her brother Gene Roadman and his wife Vivian and her sister Norma Jean and her husband Herb. She is survived by her sister-in law, Lillian Roadman, step daughters: Linda Brown (Michael) and Angela Irvine (David) as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Helen’s family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, May 28th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at in the lower hall of Hope Evangelical Methodist Church, 131Church Street, Youngstown, PA. Lite foods and refreshments will be served. At 6:30 attendees will be asked to move upstairs for a memorial service. Internment will be private. All arrangements are being managed by Snyder-Green Funeral Home, Ligonier, PA.
