James W. Nelson(Jimmy), a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on June 23, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on January 24, 1966, James lived a life rich with love, laughter, and cherished memories. James was known for his kind and welcoming personality, traits that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a devoted family man, who truly loved spending time with his dear ones. His legacy as a husband and father will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Clark Nelson, his devoted son, Patrick Nelson(Shabree Hodge)(step granddaughter Katalya), and his beloved daughter, Andrea Nelson(Rick Roberts). James was a treasured son to his mother, Connie (Wynn) Nelson (Dale Wahl), a caring brother to Kim Nelson(Tim Costello) and extended family Alex Wahl (Sallie)- Steven Wahl (Lisa). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A proud United States Marine, James exemplified courage and commitment. His service to the country was a testament to his character, showcasing his dedication and selflessness. After his military service, he continued to build a life that reflected those values, engaging in numerous hobbies and interests. James found joy in fishing and four-wheeling, activities that often brought him closer to nature and provided moments of tranquility. He was also an esteemed member of Masonic Lodge #331 F&AM and the American Legion 267, where he forged friendships that spanned years and filled his life with camaraderie. James's spirit continues to shine brightly in the memories shared by those he left behind. He will be deeply missed, not only for the moments spent with family but also for his unwavering kindness and the warmth that radiated from him. He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Nelson (died same day on 06/23/1989), whose memory lives on in the stories shared amongst the family. A visitation with family will be held on Monday June 30, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Snyder-Green Funeral Home, located at 402 E Church St., Ligonier, PA 15658. It will be a time for all who knew James to come together, share their love, and reflect on a life well-lived. A Military service will be held at 7 P.M. followed by a Masonic service. James W. Nelson will forever be remembered for his contributions to his family, community, and country. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in the lives of all he touched. The family would like to thank Independence Health Care for taking good care of James during his visits, we would also like to thank the VA hospital in Pittsburgh for all the care and support they have given over the past couple years. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the PA Hero Walk American Legion Post 267.
