James W. Park, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on May 6, 1938, James led a life characterized by hard work, family values, and a deep sense of community. He worked as a maintenance mechanic at the Conemaugh Generating Station for many years.
A devoted husband of 66 years, he deeply loved his wife, Suzann (Gamble) Park. Together, they created a beautiful family that flourished under their guidance and love. James was the proud father of three daughters: Cheryl (Brad) Segal, Amy (Bob) Pritts, Linda D'Andrea, and son James Park, who all carry forward his spirit of resilience and kindness. The light of his life brightened even more with the addition of his grandchildren—Kyle, Cara, Olivia, and Ian—each of whom knew him as a source of strength and support. He was also a delighted great-grandfather to Ryker and Everly, whose laughter brought him immense joy. He is also survived by a sister Irene Hoyle; brother Jesse (Shirley) Park; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
James was a man of many interests, with a passion for hunting that provided him with cherished moments in nature. However, it was his time spent with family that remained his most treasured pursuit. He found fulfillment in the simple yet profound joys of being surrounded by his loved ones, cultivating bonds that would last a lifetime.
He was honored to be a member of over 50 years to the Ligonier Twp VFD #1 Waterford Station, a testament to his unwavering commitment to serving his community and making a difference in the lives of others. His contributions and dedication to service defined not just his career but also his character and the way he approached every day.
He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Mae Park, whose love and influence shaped the incredible man he became.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at Snyder-Green Funeral Home in Ligonier, PA, on August 8, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate a life well-lived.
