John Stephen “Steve” Doren, 45, was welcomed home by God on December 8, 2025.
Steve was born September 20, 1980 with a rare liver condition, this led to a life full of
medical challenges including 2 liver transplants, surgeries to numerous to count and
many procedures, yet he lived life to the fullest.
Steve is survived by his wife of 14 years, Christine (Queer) Doren, his parents John
Charles”Chuck” and Henrietta Doren, his brother Dave (Mistie) Doren, sister Sarah
(John) Illsley, in laws James and Rose Queer, sisters in law Lisa (Mike) Telford and
Amber Queer, nieces and nephews Ami, Andria, Wylder, and Waverly Doren, Annalise
and Nathaniel Illsley and Megan (Justin) Bacco. He is also survived by many extended
family and many friends, including a great group of guys from high school.
Even through the lifelong health challenges Steve graduated from Hampton High school
and continued his education at Laroche College earning both his bachelor’s and
master’s degrees. Everywhere Steve worked he gained new friends that he inspired
with his work ethic and faith. Steve grew up in North Way Christian Community, where
he was discipled by amazing groups of men who had a lifelong impact, and it was that
faith that kept him going through all the challenges. His story is full of God’s provision
and faithfulness in the midst of hardship and struggle.
Steve loved to travel, visiting relatives in CA and WA, serving on several mission’s
teams, going to Macedonia to propose to Christine and was up for any road trip or
adventure. He enjoyed the time he swam with the manatees and the year he was able
to be in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. He has been an incredible “furdad”
through his married life and loved to plan and dream of all that could come.
The joy of heaven holds us, knowing that Steve is with his Lord and Savior, but the grief
of earth is hard, though the blow is softened knowing that his lungs are breathing in
another body as he was able to be an organ and tissue donor helping to extend and
improve the health of numerous others.
Two memorial services will be held to celebrate Steve’s life, one Sat. Jan 3 rd at
11:00AM at Hickory Global Methodist in Hermitage, PA and the other on Sat. Jan. 10 th at
