Larry Vernon Warfel

Larry Vernon Warfel, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at his home in Ligonier, PA on April 8, 2026. Born on June 24, 1946, Larry was a devoted Christian whose faith was an integral part of his life. He was a faithful member of the Ligonier Valley Bible Church. He had a tireless work ethic and unwavering commitment defining his professional and personal endeavors alike. Larry’s impact was profound and lasting, touching friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him and his special sense of humor.

Larry served as the Chief of the Maytown Fire Department as well as an EMT. His leadership extended into the auctioneering world as a past president of the New York State Auctioneers Association. Larry and Bev were the proud owners of BLG Auction Services of Clyde, NY.

Music was another cherished element of Larry’s life. He enjoyed playing the French horn in his youth and loved to sing with Bev. Larry’s profession and passions intersected with the Winross Collectors Club and the Lionel Train collectors community, reflecting a lifelong love for toys and trains. These interests were more than just pastimes; they were gateways to friendships and deeply cherished memories.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Beverly (Abbey) Warfel. He was the proud father and step-father of six children: Pamela Lutchman and Lori (Bryan) Gruber of Mount Joy, PA; Deborah (William Antrim) Evans of Bellefontaine, Ohio; Christina Poloni of Columbus, Ohio; and Roy (Robyn) Larson of Hilliard, Ohio, as well as Nathan (Eileen) Larson of Perry, Ohio. Larry had eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Rena Warfel, and his siblings, Carol and David.

A service celebrating Larry’s life will be held on April 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Ligonier Valley Bible Church, located at 326 North Grant Street, Ligonier, PA 15658. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life.
