Margy Ward 88 of Ligonier passed away July 12, 2021. She was born October 21, 1932, in Spangler, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late John and Mary (Johnson) Ward. Margy grew up in Ebensburg Pennsylvania residing on High Street. Later in life she spent her summers in Ligonier and Maine. Winters were spent in Clearwater Florida.

Margy was born with cerebral palsy and had an insatiable eagerness to learn, an unquenchable love of life and a smiling, bright-eyed face. She received a high school general course diploma bestowed by the International Correspondence School at Scranton. She had approximately six years of formal education, two years of it at the Mylo School at Ebensburg and later at the D.T. Watson School at Leetsdale and the Penn State University. For her high school studies, she was tutored by numerous persons including teachers and her sisters Janet Sinclair and her twin sister Maryanne Wallace. Her school papers were typed by her using a one finger process which she taught to herself. She was a great reader as well and was active in the First United Presbyterian church for many years in Ebensburg and was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. “Her longevity of life is directly attributable to my grandparents Mary and John Ward. Despite her affliction with cerebral palsy, they had the same expectations for her as with all their children, to be educated and independent. Her independent and comfortable life was also largely attributable to my late mother Maryanne Wallace, her twin sister, who attended to her every day.” said her nephew Patrick R. Wallace

In addition to her parents Margy was preceded in death by her sisters Maryanne Wallace and Janet Sinclair and three brothers, John, Robert, and Thomas Ward. She is survived by her brother Mitchell J. Ward of New York and many nieces and nephews.
