Mary Lundquist

August 19, 1932 — February 14, 2024

Mary R. Lundquist, beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother and dedicated member of her community, passed away on February 14, 2024. Daughter of the late Henry and Mary Smith. Mary's life was filled with love, compassion, and tireless service to others.


Prior to retirement Mary spent 40 years with the U.S. Postal Service and many of those as the Postmaster. Her commitment to her work went beyond the call of duty as she brought joy and efficiency to countless lives.  Her dedication to her career was an inspiration to all who knew her.


Outside of work, Mary had a passion for helping others. She was a Universal Blood Donor, generously giving the gift of life to those in need. Mary understood the importance of giving back to her community and was actively involved in various organizations. She was a proud member of the Kiwanis Club, Ligonier Valley Senior Center, Laughlintown Community Center, and St. James Lutheran Church. Through her involvement in these organizations, Mary made lifelong friendships and touched many lives.


Mary's proudest accomplishments were not limited to her professional achievements but extended to her role as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She shared a beautiful life with her late husband Paul "Pete" Lundquist for many years. Mary was also was preceded by her daughter Amy D. Lundquist and brother Frank Smith.


Mary is survived by her loving children Paul E. (Doreen) Lundquist Jr. and Alan H. Lundquist who will carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren Kasey (Eric) Belu, Danielle Carns, Jennifer (David) Butz, Renee Lundquist, Paul Lundquist III, Alexandra Lundquist; Sister of Henry C. (Julia) Smith Jr., John J. (Carol) Smith, George C. Smith, Beverly Palmer, and Carol (Dino) Missvoulos. numerous nieces and nephews and counsins. 


Mary Lundquist will forever be remembered for her generous spirit, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her infectious smile and kind words. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service that will continue to inspire generations to come. 

As we celebrate the life of Mary, we invite family and friends to join us at the Snyder-Green Funeral Home 402 E. Church St. Ligonier Pa 15658 on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. a private family service will be held on Tuesday. 

Contributions in Mary's memory can be made to the organizations that were dear to her heart: St. James Lutheran Church, Ligonier Valley Senior Center, or Laughlintown Community Center.
