Mary Louise Medved, of Stahlstown, PA, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on May 15, 1938, in Connellsville, PA, Mary devoted 30 years of her life to her career as an EKG technician at Excella Health. Her dedication and care for her patients reflected her nurturing spirit, which touched the lives of so many.
Mary was not only known for her professional accomplishments but also for the way she enriched the lives of those around her with her warm and generous heart. The holiday season was especially dear to her; she delighted in making chocolate candies that brought joy to her family and friends. Each sweet treat was a symbol of her love and thoughtfulness, embodying the festive spirit of the season.
Her culinary talents did not end with candy-making. Mary loved to cook for her family, often experimenting with new recipes and sharing the warmth of her kitchen. She had a special touch when it came to cake decorating, creating beautiful and delicious cakes that were the centerpiece of family celebrations. Her family will always cherish the memories made over these shared meals, filled with laughter and love.
Mary was a proud mother to her daughter Joyce (Late Jimmy) Poyner. As a loving grandmother, she took great pride in her grandchildren: Bobby Poyner of Elkins, WV, James Poyner of Elkins, WV, and Joey Poyner of Titusville, FL . Great-grandchildren, Dallas, Austin, and Clara Poyner.
Mary is also survived by her sister, Jean (Late Larry) Bitner, who shared countless cherished memories with her. The bond of sisterhood brought them comfort and laughter throughout their lives, and this connection will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew them. Cherished Aunt of Katy (Jeremy) Velkey and Xander Velkey.
Preceding Mary in death were her father, Charles Funk, and her mother, Goldy (Keller) Funk. The love and guidance they provided laid a foundation for the wonderful person that Mary became.
True to her wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. However, the love and memories that Mary leaves behind will echo in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding them of her incredible life filled with warmth, kindness, and joy. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on through the many lives she touched.
