Neal Edwin Nicely

Neal Edwin Nicely, age 66, of Laughlintown died July 24, 2025 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born December 13, 1958, in Ligonier, he was one of two sons to the late William Howard and Ruth (Ankney) Nicely.

Neal was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy as a machinist aboard the USS Piedmont and the submarine, the USS Skate. He was interested in and very knowledgeable about local history, especially the early settlement of Ligonier Valley. Other interests included his family's genealogy, antiques, watches, and stringed instruments such as the mandolin and banjo.

Neal is survived by several cousins, extended family, and numerous friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Nicely.
