Pamela McCaffrey

November 20, 1942 — December 28, 2023

Beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend Pamela Elaine McCaffrey (81) died on December 28, 2023, surrounded by her family at a Pittsburgh hospital following a short illness.

Pam was born on November 20, 1942 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. At a young age she moved with her parents, Laura and Henry Polliard, to Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Pam graduated from Ligonier Valley High School in 1960. She enjoyed horseback riding and skiing and in her early years taught lessons at Laurel Mountain Ski Resort. Pam moved to Johnstown, to raise her family and worked for the General Telephone Company.  After many years in Johnstown, she moved to Ocean City, Maryland to become a real estate agent. Pam loved the beach and hosted many friends and family to enjoy the fun and sun with her.  A career change took her to Alexandria, Virginia where she worked for many years as an administrative receptionist for the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC.  Following a long career and retirement from the Fed, Pam returned to her beloved Ligonier.

Pam renewed old friendships with former classmates and was a dedicated church member of the Covenant Presbyterian in Ligonier.  She was a talented artist and enjoyed creating portraits.  Pam loved to knit and crochet and often gave many of these items to friends and families and patients at Shriners and Latrobe hospitals.

The loves of her life were her son Jim, his wife Kathy and two grandchildren, Mitchell and Carley McCaffrey. Pam was a good lifetime friend to many people from everywhere that she lived. She had a gift for making people feel special and treasured and was a caring, unselfish person.

She will be tremendously missed by her many friends and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kim Polliard. She is survived by her son, Jim (Kathy) McCaffrey of Gibsonia, PA, her grandson Mitchell McCaffrey of Chicago, Illinois and granddaughter, Carley McCaffrey of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by her brother, Mark (Cindy) Polliard and niece, Amanda (McCabe) Felder, all of Charleston, SC as well as nephew, Heath Polliard of Delmont, Pennsylvania.

Family and friends will be received from 10 A.M to 12 P.M. on Saturday January 6, 2024 with a service immediately following at the Snyder-Green Funeral Home 402 E. Church St. Ligonier.
