Patrick Scanlon

Patrick M. Scanlon, 75, of Ligonier, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital.

Born September 3, 1945, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late John Francis Regis and Kathryn J. (Kern) Scanlon.

He was a graduate of Pittsburgh Central Catholic, class of 1963.  After graduation, he proudly served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division.  He was employed by the Plumbers Local Union #27, retiring with 37 years of dedicated service.

Patrick was a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Ligonier.  He volunteered his time with the church Community Service program and annual fish fries.  He also served on the Ligonier Borough Council.

He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather with a great sense of humor.  He enjoyed working with his hands, traveling, RVing, flipping houses with his son, and most especially spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.  There was nothing more important to him than his family.  He was once asked what his hobbies were, and he responded, "my family".

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Theresa Scanlon.

Patrick leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend of 52 years, Mary Ann (Barry) Scanlon; two children, Patrick B. Scanlon and Molly S. (Andrew) Grace; four grandchildren, David, Bridget, Cate, and Miles Grace, all of Ligonier; brother, Regis (Karen) Scanlon; sister, Kathleen (Jack) Shirey: and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will be received Saturday, June 5, from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am, at the Snyder-Green Funeral Home, Inc., 402 E. Church Street, Ligonier. (724-238-2611) Father Anthony Carbone as celebrant.  Interment will be private.
