Robert Hritz

July 2, 1931 — August 3, 2025

Robert P Hritz, a beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born on July 2, 1931, in the North Braddock neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Robert was a generous man with a curious, adventurous spirit. His profound love for his family was the cornerstone of his being. His engaging stories brought joy and laughter to those fortunate enough to hear them. He had an innate ability to make others feel special, welcoming all into the warm embrace of his life.

Robert, a Veteran of the United States Army, displayed his dedication to our country by his courageous service as a Medic in the Korean War. He was recently awarded the AMBASSADOR FOR PEACE Medal by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea, “In gratitude for his service performed in restoring and preserving freedom and democracy to the Republic of Korea”.

As a young husband and father, he worked as bricklayer in the Carrie Blast Furnaces at the Homestead Steel Works in Swissvale. He also worked for the US Postal Service, rising through the ranks, retiring at the age of 57 as a Postal Supervisor.

In his leisure, Robert indulged in his passions of golfing and world travel. He and Norma created cherished memories on numerous cruises as they traveled the world after his retirement. In his later years, those memories with family were created closer to home.

Robert is survived by his cherished daughters, Nancy (James) Valley, Carol (George) Modos, and Linda (David) Cubbison, who will carry forth his legacy of kindness and love. He was a proud grandfather to Benjamin Modos, Abigail Cubbison, and Noah Cubbison, who will forever cherish the stories and lessons imparted by their beloved grandfather.

He reunites now with his late wife, Norma Jean (Kelly) Hritz, who preceded him in death, as did his father, John Hritz, his mother, Mary (Kitko) Hritz, and his daughter, Susan Hritz. Together, they will forever be remembered in the hearts of those whose lives they touched.

A memorial service to honor Robert's life and legacy will be announced at a later date, allowing all who knew and loved him to pay their respects and celebrate the remarkable journey of a remarkable man. He will be remembered as a strong force with a gentle heart.
