Robert H. Neiderhiser

October 1, 1943 — April 18, 2026

Robet H. Neiderhiser, 82, passed peacefully onto heavens shores on April 18, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Latrobe, PA on October 1, 1943. He was the only son to Harold and Martha (Campbell) Neiderhiser. Upon graduation from Ligonier High School in 1961, Bob joined the U.S. Air Force. After four years of service at McGuire AFB, he met and married his wife of 60 years, Mary. They lived several years in Mount Holly, NJ, and then moved back to Ligonier, where he spent the remainder of his life. Bob was a pipe fitter by trade, a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 354 in Youngwood, PA. His work career ended abruptly in 1995 when he suffered an AVM rupture leading to a cerebral hemorrhage and heart attack. By the grace of God, and prayers of the many, Bob survived that event, but a myriad of serious problems followed him over the remaining years. Most recently, in 2016, he suffered a stroke. Thru it all he always maintained a thankful heart. He faced each new day as a gift, and countered his losses with "I've been better, but I've also been worse". He was a gentleman, with a quiet disposition, and ever-present orneriness that made you chuckle. When he was healthy, and able, he loved the outdoors and spent his spare time fishing, hunting, woodworking, and most especially playing the game of golf. As a Christian he was faithful in membership to his church, Oak Grove Christian Church. Over the years he served as a deacon and a worker in many capacities. He found encouragement in the harmonious gospel music, his favorite being the Gaithers. He was preceded by his parents, a sister, Bonnie Neiderhiser, and brother-in-law, David Crockett. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his 3 children, Cheryl A. Graham and husband Bruce of Johnstown, Keith A. Neiderhiser and wife Mitzi of Ligonier, and Beth A. Neiderhiser and fiancé Michael Roberts of Ligonier; six grandchildren, Megan (Marty) and Abbey Graham, Jacob (Cara) and Nathaniel (Lindsay) Neiderhiser, and Anna and Lucas Walker; great grandson, Samuel Neiderhiser; sisters Donna Crockett of Acworth, Georgia, Connie Hauer (Bob) of Ligonier; brother-in-law, David Thomas (Tina) of Easton, PA; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, some of which he held as close as family. His self struggles made us keenly aware of so many in the medical field that were there for him, dedicated doctors, nurses, and their staff, to ambulance crews, home health and hospice care...the list goes on. They all worked tirelessly to be at our beaconed call...and they were. Prayers, telephone calls, and visits from family and friends also kept him going. Our sincere appreciation and thanks to those many "angels" we met along the way. Currently, the special people at Suncrest Hospice...Chaplain Phil, Lanna, Missy, Jen, Melissa, Jody, Allie, Kathleen, David, and Lisa. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026 at the Snyder-Green Funeral Home, 402 E. Church Street, Ligonier, PA 15658. His funeral service will be on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Menoher Cemetery in Ligonier.
