Howdy Glessner

Howdy Glessner, a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 74. He was born on August 31, 1951, and spent his life embodying dedication to family and a spirit of adventure.

Howdy served honorably in the United States Air Force, a commitment that underscored his sense of duty and love for his country. Following his military service, he pursued his passion for harness racing, an accomplishment that brought him immense pride and joy throughout his life.

An avid lover of the outdoors, he found great pleasure in hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and create lasting memories with family and friends. He cherished the time spent with those he loved, always looking for opportunities to share his interests and experiences with them.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Debra, his children Wayne, Chris (Kameron), and Matt Glessner, and his grandchildren River and Emma. He is also survived by his siblings, Wanda Miller, Polly (Harry), Frank (Lynn) Glessner, and Karl (Phyllis) Glessner. Howdy also leaves behind his loyal dog companion, Blue. 

Howdy was preceded in death by his infant son Michael Glessner, and his parents Charles and Ellen Glessner and sister, Maggie Green.

family will receive friends on Saturday March 21 from 5-7 p.m. for Howdy at Snyder-Green Funeral Home 402 E. Church St. Ligonier, PA, followed by Military Funeral Honors presented by the Ligonier Valley Honor Guard at 7 P.M.

Howdy will be deeply missed by all who knew him, as he leaves behind a legacy of love, respect, and cherished memories.
